Namrata Gargee Jain, MD

HMH-Pediatric Nephrology-Hackensack
As the medical director of pediatric kidney transplant, I have been and will continue to focus on quality improvement efforts, including underserved patient populations. I am working to expand community and academic partnerships. In addition, I am focused on educating medical students, residents, and fellows – both with teaching sessions and contributions to medical research.
My research interests focus on improving kidney transplant outcomes as well as risk factors for chronic kidney disease in pediatric patients who have undergone heart and bone marrow transplantation. I believe it is important to contribute to research to help improve quality outcomes for my patients. I am an active member of multi-center studies and principal investigator for a Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium study.
Prior to coming to Hackensack, I served as the medical director of pediatric kidney transplant at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia. I am licensed to practice medicine in both New York and New Jersey, and am excited to come home to NJ to provide the best care for your child!"
Dr. Jain is a NephCure specialist and one of only two in New Jersey. NephCure created the NephCure Specialists Program to help connect patients to glomerular disease experts earlier in their diagnoses. Each NephCure Specialist has been carefully selected through a rigorous nomination and vetting process. To be accepted into the program, a NephCure Specialist must at a minimum meet three or more of the following criteria: regularly sees patients with glomerular disease; has a history of research participation in clinical trials, consortia, or other studies; actively participates in glomerular disease-related CME activities; is a designated glomerular disease specialist within a broader practice/clinic; has demonstrated a compassionate bedside manner; has experience referring patients to clinical trial sites, and has demonstrated a willingness to see patients for a second opinion. Dr. Jain was also recognized as a 2020 & 2021 Super Doctors Rising Star.
Philosophy of Care
At the heart of my practice, I think of all my patients as “my children.” I, myself, have two young kids. I want parents to know that with each medication and procedure I recommend, I am trying to put myself in their shoes. I understand that it can be scary to be referred to a specialist and aim to take the time needed to explain all the details. I welcome questions from parents and want to make sure I am always providing the care your child deserves.
